"Elephant Mud Fun" allows visitors to interact directly and play in the mud with our friendly Sumatran elephants, all while learning about their behavior and lifestyle from experienced *mahouts* (elephant keepers). You will discover fascinating facts such as why elephants wallow in mud during hot weather: their high body temperatures generate significant metabolic heat. Lacking sweat glands to regulate body temperature, elephants rely on mud to stay cool and protected from the sun, as their skin despite appearing thick and tough is actually susceptible to sunburn.
